Single-use plastic pollution is one of the greatest environmental problems facing the world. The statistics are sobering. Each year 500 billion disposable cups are consumed across the globei.130 million tons of plastic litters the oceans every yearii. Plastic cups take 450 years to break downiii and only 9% of all plastic ever made has been recycled.

Plastic Free July is a global movement that runs a yearly challenge where millions of people give up single use plastic during the month of July; directly becoming part of the solution to plastic pollution.

WOSUP, an acronym for ‘War On Single Use Plastic’ and was born from the Australian heartland of sustainability, Byron Bay. WOSUP founders Karl Page and Martin Salter, two self-professed footy guys, were drinking beers at the footy when they found themselves sitting in a sea of plastic cups. They began re-using their plastic cup and discussing how they could create an alternative solution. WOSUP Australia was born.

Co-Founder Karl Page says, “As a surfer and ocean lover, I see the impact of single use plastic every day. Our ocean and marine life are choking on it. We wanted to tackle the plastic crisis head-on, and with a solution that would have a positive impact. It starts with simple things like choosing a reusable cup instead of a disposable one.”

WOSUP cups and sustainable services eliminate single-use beverage plastic for major events, stadiums, festivals, clubs, pubs as well as home entertaining, outdoors, camping, fishing, picnics, parties and traveling.

Co-Founder Martin Salter says, “WOSUP products and services provide both businesses and customers with an alternative to plastic. Most importantly, customers know they’re doing something positive for the planet, which provides a bonus feel-good factor.”

With a high collectability value, WOSUP Cups are 100% reusable, BPA free, non-toxic, dishwasher safe. They are lightweight and durable. Made from food-grade 304 stainless steel, WOSUP cups keep drinks extra chilled – a cold one at the footy, on a picnic or at a BBQ has never tasted so good.

“The WOSUP cup is a simple solution to a substantial environmental issue. Plastic Free July is a perfect opportunity for people to get involved and join the war on single-use plastic. The planet will thank you for it”, continues Martin.
